Wrapping a present for my husband becomes a busy mix of structure and mess: sharp geometric paper, measured cuts and curling ribbon. In the painting, that order loosens into overlapping red, yellow and blue rhythms, where patterns collide and wander. The combination feels like him too—structure made more alive by a little disorder.
