Daily Observations
An ongoing visual diary.
I started Daily Observations as a way of paying attention to the moments that make me stop — sometimes something beautiful, sometimes something ordinary, sometimes something I can’t quite explain. I photograph them so I can hold onto what first caught me.
Later, I return to the moment through digital painting. I’m not trying to recreate the photograph. I let myself return to how the moment felt: what stayed with me, what became more important in memory, what disappeared. A tiny detail can take over the whole painting; a dominant object can vanish completely.
The paintings work best for me when I give myself enough space to actually process the experience rather than simply translate what I saw.
The photograph remembers the moment; the painting remembers my experience of it.
I don’t know how long I’ll continue. For now, I keep noticing, photographing, feeling, and painting — and letting one day lead to the next.
